Wendell Woodard

June 30, 1930 — November 18, 2015

Mr. Wendell Lee Woodard, 76 of Guntersville, passed away at Crestwood Medical Center Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015 surrounded by his family.
He was born with a congenital heart defect and had COPD.
He was born June 20, 1939, in Lawrence County to Brownie and Celestie Woodard. An electrician most of his working years, he worked for the Monsanto Company and Daniel Construction. He moved to Guntersville with Monsanto when the plant was built here in August 1971 with his family. He retired in 2001.
Prior to the decline of his health, Mr. Woodard was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning as well
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His great-grandbaby Sawyer was the apple of his eye, his family said.
Mr. Woodard was a member of the Guntersville Church of Christ.
He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Woodard McCoy; 2 sons, Michael Woodard (Michelle) and Danny Woodard (LouAnn); 6 grandchildren, Cassie McCoy Burgess (Cody), Jonathan McCoy (special friend Alyssa Bryant), Malik Woodard, Madilyn Woodard, Sara Elizabeth Woodard and Millie Claire Woodard; great-granddaughter Sawyer Burgess; and sisters Shirley Sterling, Elizabeth (Ronnie) Wilson, Martha (Chester) Hicks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brownie and Celestie Woodard; his loving wife, Carolyn Woodard, a grandson, Daniel Mason Woodard; brothers, Cecil Woodard, Melvin Woodard and Raymond Woodard; sister Deloris Woodard and brother in law Brice Sterling.
Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 today (Saturday) at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home. The service will follow at 1:00 with Bro. Philip Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Marshall Memory Gardens.
