Ruby Jo "Yontz" Beam

Ruby "Jo" Yontz Beam of Langston passed away at home Jan. 15, 2018 surrounded by family and hospice members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilmer and Viola Bell Yontz of Jacksonville, Fl, her brother Don Yontz and her sister Delane Schneider.

Jo is survived by her husband Edward Beam, two sons Larry Taylor and Ray (Sheri) Beam her sister Betty Caulk of FL and her brother Glenn (Erica) Yontz of Ga. Six grandchildren, Barbie (John) Hillhouse, Chris Taylor, Miranda Jordan, Michael Beam, Connor Rooks, Cody Rooks and seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jo met her husband while he was stationed at Mayport, FL with the Navy. After Ed's retirement, they moved to Alabama where Jo became active in the Happy Home Baptist Church and later the South Sauty Baptist church. She loved singing gospel hymns, sharing her faith in GOD, teaching Sunday School, Bible School and caring for others…especially those less fortunate. Taking mission trips, serving with and enjoying the fellowship of the members was her passion. She also encouraged family ‘get togethers' and so wanted everyone to have a wonderful time.

Jo was a member of the Ladies Buck Island group and made many new friends one of which was Gale Roadruck the founder of Marshall County Hospice. Jo participated in the beginning Hospice classes doing different jobs in the new organization and giving her time as a caring volunteer. She loved helping people.

Visitation will be at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, January 20, between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. The service will follow in the chapel at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home. Interment in Marshall Memory Gardens following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to Sheppard's Cove Hospice in Albertville, AL or your favorite charity.
