Reverend Raymond Lee McAllister, 75, passed away peacefully at his house on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Kerry Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Marshall Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ken McAllister; Tony Taylor; Troy Richards; Jaron Beasley; Dalton McAllister; Jeremy Tims and Andrew O'Dell.
Raymond was preceded in death by his loving wife Peggy McAllister, his parents Clifford and Jewell McAllister.
Raymond was born in Scottsboro, lived in Indiana and met his loving wife Peggy in middle school. He charmed his wife into marrying him at the young ages of 15 and 16. They surprised everyone by running away to Trenton, GA and getting married. They had been married 58 years at the time of Peggy’s passing.
Raymond and Peggy had 3 children they raised in the church. Brother Raymond started preaching in his 30s and preached for 42 years in the ministry.
Brother Raymond was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church where he served his God faithfully. He was a caring, kind man who was willing to help anyone in need.
Raymond loved to hunt and fish and in his spare time, he could be found in the woods or by a creek somewhere.
Raymond is survived by his loving children Kenneth McAllister; Kimberly McCarty (Randal Giles) and Kathy Downey; his grandchildren Dalton McAllister; Whitney McAllister; Harley McAllister; Jordan Downey, Destiny Downey and Kylie Murdock; his great-grandchildren Luther, Marylou, Jaxon, Aleck and Colton; his siblings Gene McAllister and Bonnie Roberts.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm on Tuesday until the start of the service.
