Mildred Lavern O’Dell, 84, passed away at Dekalb Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, April 19th, 2023, with her devoted family by her side. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday April 23rd at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Eddie Wilborn officiating. Burial will follow afterwards in Marshall Memorial Gardens.
Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband Bobby O’Dell; her daughter Paula Pruitt and her parents Oliver and Mattie Bright.
Mildred was born and raised in Marshall County, but she spent most of her life living in Fort Payne. She met the love of her life Bobby, and they married on July 6th, 1957. They had 5 beautiful children they adored. Mildred was a stay-at-home Mom and housewife.
Mildred will be remembered for her cooking. She was a wonderful cook who tried to feed everyone in her family. The smells of all the wonderful dishes she cooked will be remembered by her entire family.
She loved her family more than anything. She was a sweet woman who always had something positive to share with her family. Mildred was a talker, and it was hard to say goodbye to her when you were trying to leave her house.
Mildred is survived by her children: Faron O’Dell(Kathy); Philip O’Dell(Susan); Karon Hairel and Cheryl Tidwell; her sister Faye Wallace; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 pm until the start of the service.
