Michael Anthony Benefield, 77, of Albertville, AL passed away on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 8th, 2024, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Martice Lavelle Benefield and his mother Auzalene Camp of Boaz.
Mike was a graduate of Albertville High School Class of 1965 and was on the drumline. He graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1969 with his BS in general business. After that he studied electrical engineering to further his education.
From 1970-1972, Mike taught special education at Douglas High School. He worked at Bowater Sawmill until he started working for Huhtamaki. He worked at Huhtamaki until his retirement in 2015.
After Mike retired, he could be found on the golf course every sunny day that he didn’t have a “honey do list” to complete at home.
Mike loved Jesus. He was a man of God and his character showed what he believed. He loved people and enjoyed sharing the gospel with everyone that he met. He was a faithful husband, loving daddy and wonderful Papa. Mike served as a deacon in his church, van ministry, local missions and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.
While he was alive, he gave blood to help others and after he passed, he donated his organs so that others could enjoy life. He loved and gave like Jesus did.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Connie Haywood Benefield whom he married in 1977; sons Michael (Sadie) Benefield; Daniel Benefield and his daughter Angela (Wade) Benefield Bryan; grandchildren Danielle (Austin) Benefield; Allen Benefield; Danielle Whisenant; Jacob Scott; Matthew Scott; Hannah Scott; Daniel (Mendy) Walker; great-grandchildren: Brett Walker; Rosaleigh Swearengin and Jaxon Walker, his brother Gary Benefield, and his Nieces; Dawn (Mark) Guyton; Jennifer Benefield, Kara (Jason) Carrow and their daughter Avery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Baptist Church in Albertville.
The family will accept friends from 1:00 pm on Friday until the start of the Celebration of Life.
