Melba Maxine (Duke) Holmes

Melba Maxine Holmes, 68, passed away on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023, at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville with her loving son Jason by her side.  Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her infant son Christopher Adam Holmes; her parents Sylvester and Stella Duke; and her sister Gail Wright.

Melba was born to Sylvester Burke Duke and Stella Amos Duke in 1955.  She was brought up in a big family of 6 children and had many childhood adventures with her siblings.

Melba loved the outdoors and loved riding the roads to view nature.  She loved sight seeing and her 3 precious cats.  She loved being with her son, her family, and her close friends.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by her son Jason Holmes and his wife Lori; her brothers Hayward and his wife Judy Duke; Paul and his wife Carol Duke; Keith and his wife Ellen Duke; Jeff and his wife Teresa Duke; brother-in-law Dale Wright and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life of life graveside at Bethel Baptist Church, at 11 am on November 11, 2023.  The Celebration of Life will continue at White Oak church from 12p-2p.
