Mary Ruth "Nanny" (Bailey) Bishop

Mary Ruth “Nanny” Bishop, 85, passed away on Friday, June 14th, 2024, at her home in Boaz.   A Public visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm on Friday June 21st, 2024, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband James Bishop; her parents James and Delois Bailey; brother Lawrence Bailey and her sisters Geneva Johnson and Linda Jones.

Nanny loved children and most who knew her called her Nanny.  She was everyone’s favorite “Nanny” and loved to dote on her grandkids.  She loved her grandkids with all her heart.

She loved to listen to Elvis and knew most of his songs by heart.

Ruth is survived by her children:  Anthony Bishop (Michelle); Rhonda Bishop; Rebecca Beck (Todd); and Amanda Betterton (Mark); her brother Willie Bailey; her sister Lillian Watkins; her 10 adoring grandchildren; her honorary grandchildren and future great-grandchild expected in November.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:30 on Friday at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.
