Marshall Memorial Funeral Home announces the passing of Lyda Mae Mahan who went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2015 at her home surrounded by family.
Lyda Mae is survived by her son, Keith and his wife Kimberly Mahan, one granddaughter Crystal and husband Tyson Littlejohn, as well as great grandchildren Colton Littlejohn and Aubrey Littlejohn.
Mrs. Mahan was preceded in death by her husband, Bertice Mahan; Parents Street and Charsile (Kelley) Buchanan; Brothers Verlon Buchanan and Haskel Buchanan and sister, Claire Bell Buchanan.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 9 pm at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at noon. The body will lie in state 1 hour prior to service at Pleasant Hill No. 2 Baptist Church in the Sims Community. Brothers, Joy Gant, Gene Lambert and Bobby Bright will officiate. Burial will following the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Buchanan, Tyler Buchanan, Jeremy Buchanan, Jason Thomas, Kurt Evers and Randall Buchanan.
Mrs. Mahan was a charter member as well as the oldest member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church No 2 and taught Sunday school for over 70 years. She loved serving the Lord and attending Revivals and singings. Lyda Mae loved her church and family and believed in them both. As a lifelong part of the Sims Community you could always find her cakes and cookies and other treats anytime someone needed a hand or just some encouragement. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers and was a fine cattle lady. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be missed greatly.
