Kenneth Haden Hill, 79, passed away Tuesday June 30th, 2020 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 2nd, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home with Preacher Brad Howard officiating. Burial will follow afterwards in Marshall Memory Gardens.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father Willie Frank “Boyd” Hill; his mother Leona Rosetta “Etter” Smith; his sisters Lillian Johnson, Idessa Davis, and Gladys Griep.
Mr. Hill was born and raised in Guntersville, where he graduated Marshall County High School in 1959. He met the love of his life Gail Joiner in school and they married in 1961 when they were teenagers.
When Kenneth and Gail married, he worked at the Penny Saver in Guntersville to support his family. Kenneth had a cute sense of humor and he always called his workplace the “Penny Snatcher”.
Kenneth went to work at Goodyear in Gadsden after their son Keith was born. Steve and Phillip followed soon afterwards, and their family was complete. Kenneth raised his sons to love sports: football, basketball, and baseball. He attended his son’s and his grandchildren’s ballgames, cheering them onto victory.
He taught his sons to love Alabama football. Watching the Crimson Tide play was a family affair and all 3 learned to yell Roll Tide at a very young age.
Kenneth was known for his loving caring side and he was always helping anyone who called and needed help. People always called him for help because they knew that he would help when needed.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Gail Joiner Hill; his 3 sons Keith and Shena Hill of Boaz; Steve and Kim Hill of Albertville and Phillip Hill of Albertville; his grandchildren Jerame (Kate) Hill of Madison, WI; Jantzen Hill of Boaz; Julianna Hill of West Hartford, CT; Stephanie (C.J.) von Buchwald-Wright of Flagstaff, AZ; Michael Hill of Gilbert AZ; and Cody Hill of Albertville; his great-grandson Holt Hill of Madison, WI; his sisters Lula Mae Wood of Selma and Lorie Helms of Albertville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Encompass Health Hospice.
