Hildreth McClendon, 97, passed away early Saturday, May 30th, 2020 at her home with her son Tony, by her side. Graveside services will be held Monday June 1st, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Mt. High Baptist Church with Marshall Memorial Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
Hildreth was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd McClendon; her son Dwight McClendon and her parents Arby and Virdie Patterson.
Hildreth was one of the hardest working people you would ever meet. She was always canning her own vegetables that she grew in the garden that she tended or making her family clothes. When she was not busy taking care of her family, she was making a beautiful flower garden that made her neighbors envious of her green thumb.
After the death of her husband, she kept working in her garden and tending to her flowers until she was physically unable to any longer. She was known for saving flowers that others thought were dead.
Hildreth is survived by her loving daughter Glenda Cadena of Virginia; her devoted son Tony McClendon of Albertville; her 5 grandchildren Jeff, Nancy Chris, Kimberly, and Tracy; and numerous great grandchildren.
