Delaine Dendy

Delaine McCreless Dendy, 76, of Auburn, passed away on January 28, at Bethany House in Auburn. Born April 2, 1948, to wonderful parents, Jay and Sarah McCreless, Delaine spent her growing-up years in Albertville, Alabama, alongside her best friend and sister, Kathy. Delaine married Ned in 1969, and they moved to Huntsville, where they raised their two children, John and Suzanne. They attended Weatherly Heights Baptist Church where Delaine also taught preschool and kindergarten. 

In 2010, Ned and Delaine moved to Auburn to be near their three precious granddaughters, and they joined Auburn First Baptist Church. After being diagnosed with cancer in 1979, 1990, and 2014, Delaine fought a courageous, long, and difficult battle as a result of her treatments. She was a tough lady.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Ned Dendy; her son, John Dendy (Claire) of Helena, Montana; her daughter, Suzanne Parish (Chad) of Auburn; and three granddaughters, Anna Parish of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Olivia and Emma Kate Parish, of Auburn. She is also survived by her sister, Kathy Stewart, brother-in-law, Mike Stewart, nephew, Matthew Stewart (Jessica), and two nieces, Jensyn Seay and Baxley Stewart, of Albertville.

A service of remembrance celebrating Delaine’s life will be held at Auburn First Baptist Church on Friday, January 31, at 2:00, followed by a visitation in the Fellowship Hall. The service will be live streamed at auburnfbc.org/live. 

 There will be a graveside service in Albertville at 12:00 on Saturday, February 1, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home and Memory Gardens. Huntsville and Albertville friends are invited to attend.
