Carlos Ann Wright, 89, of Guntersville passed away early Friday morning at Marshall Medical Center North with her daughter Gayla by her side. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 20th at 2:00 pm with Brother Dennis Wright officiating. The burial will be held in Marshall Memorial Gardens afterwards.
Carlos was preceded in death by her husband Sidney Wright; her daughter Teresa Cyd; son Terry Wright her infant son; her parents Carl and Ora Lee Gaston; her brothers Tommy and Bill; and her sister Barbara.
Carlos was born and raised in Oklahoma. Carlos was named after her father Carl. She was sent to an all-male military base, where she was stationed in a hotel. Eventually, she was moved to a female military base.
One of her memories working at a hospital in Oklahoma was escorting Roy Rogers and his horse every time they came through the hospital to visit children.
Carlos was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed watching shows and movies with him starring in the shows. She enjoyed crafting and sewing; loved tending to her flowers and loved going to the state park to watch the deer play.
She loved being around her grandchildren and watching them grow up. She enjoyed being able to watch them play outside.
Carlos is survived by her children Sammy Wright; Dennis Wright and his wife Karen; Michael Wright and his wife Ellie; David Thompson and his wife Amber; Mary Kay Smith and her partner Sandy; and Gayla Ware and her husband Terry; sisters Jane Lowery and her husband John; Becky Gaston-Hamel and her wife Pam; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 pm until the start of the service.
