Billie Elizabeth Carter Williams, a retired nurse, passed away on May 21, 2017, at Golden Living Center in Arab, Alabama, after a prolonged bout with Alzheimer's disease. She was 94. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home handled her final arrangements, with a private service following in Clinton, Mississippi.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, William R. Carter and Margaret Reynolds Carter of Hamlin, Texas; her sister, Hazel Carter Sledge of Hamlin, Texas; and her husband, William C. Williams of Clinton, Mississippi. She is survived by her son, William D. Williams of Huntsville, Alabama; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Williams was born September 25, 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from Hamlin High School. She was a graduate of Incarnate Word College and Santa Rosa School of Nursing in San Antonio, Texas. After World War II she served as a registered nurse with the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, and was the nursing supervisor of Hinds General Hospital from 1965 until her retirement in 1990.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Mrs. Williams' memory to the Alzheimer's Association - Mississippi Chapter, 1900 Dunbarton Drive, Suite H, Jackson, Mississippi 39216
