Betty Jean (Weaver) Upton

June 19, 1939 — May 2, 2020

Guntersville

Betty Jean “Mimi” Upton, 80, passed away Saturday May 2nd, 2020 at Shepard’s Cove Hospice in Albertville.  Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.  The family will hold a private graveside service at Rehobeth Cemetery.

Mimi was preceded in death by her parents Grover Cleveland and Ethel Mae Weaver; her brothers and sisters Ernest, Marie, Grover, Edna and Frank.

Mimi was born and raised in Guntersville.  She was a fun-loving person who was full of energy and excitement.  She was always on the go visiting her friends and making new ones.  She was affectionately known as “the energizer bunny” by her grandkids.

Ms. Upton’s main goal in life was to ensure that her kids and her grandkids had a relationship with the Lord.  If needed, she would drag them to the altar herself.

She loved to meet new people, so she was always on the go.  She loved to travel and could not wait to get to her destination, so that she could try new things.

Mimi was known by everyone in the area due to her life’s work in the grocery stores.  She worked at several local grocery stores and she loved her customer’s that visited her in each.   She retired from Food World in Guntersville.

She volunteered at Marshall Medical Center North for over 20 years at the information desk.

Betty Jean is survived by her husband Lamar Upton; her devoted children JW Alldredge and his wife Anne; Brenda Perry and her husband Bill; Velissa Alldredge; Shannon Alldredge and his wife Cindi; Heath Alldredge and his wife Kelley; her brother Raymond Weaver and his wife Peggy; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a private visitation service before the graveside service.
