Anthony "Tony" V Sorcic

Mr. Anthony "Tony" Valentine Sorcic age 77 of Arab passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital due to complications from lung surgery. He was born on February 14, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Wilma and Anton Sorcic. He was married to Beverly R. Sorcic for 53 years before her passing in February of 2014. He moved to Arab with his wife and children in 1971 and worked for Cutler Hammer, which later became Eaton Corporation for over 38 years before his retirement. He was a supporter of his church, serving on the Finance Committee, was a Mass Lector, and a devoted Adult Bible Study attendee. Mr. Sorcic was a graduate of Snead State Community College. He was also active in the community as a Hospice of Marshall County Volunteer and along with his wife was a poll worker for Arab City Elections for many years. Mr. Sorcic also served in the Wisconsin National Guard for six years as part of the 132nd Signal Battalion, attaining the rank of E5, with his unit serving active duty during the Cold War Berlin Missile Crisis.
He is survived by his daughters, Tracie Bayer (Jay), Stephanie Atchley; son, Michael Sorcic (Teresa); brother, Tom Sorcic (fiancée Kelli); sister, Mary Anderson (Dave); grandsons, Seth Bayer, Evan Bayer, Cody Martin, Hunter Owens and Ethan Atchley as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Rae Pultz Sorcic; parents Anton and Wilma Sorcic; brother, Don Sorcic; sister-in-law, Mary Sorcic; sister, Delores Bassett and brother-in-law Al Bassett.
Visitation and prayer service will be held on, Thursday, February 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at St. William Catholic Church in Guntersville, AL. On Friday, February 12th at 10:30 AM at the church a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be said for Anthony. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, the ROMEO Retirement Group, Tom Sorcic, Dave Braun, and Larry Pultz. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be made to the St. William Catholic Church Building Fund, Care of St. William Catholic Church, 929 Gunter Avenue, Guntersville, AL 35976 or Hospice of Marshall County, 408 Martling Rd, Albertville, AL 35951.
