Alvin E Morita

September 15, 1939 — June 9, 2024

Albertville

Alvin E Morita passed away on June 9th, 2024, after a courageous battle against cancer.  Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Minori and Michiko Morita; his brother Marvin (Estelle) and sister Joyce Moulton (Larry).

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathy and two beautiful daughters Christina Morita Beshears (Chris) and Valerie Morita.

Alvin was born in 1939.  He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and attended East High School.  He excelled as an athlete in 3 sports:  wrestling, football and track.  He graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

He worked at Marshall Space Flight Center for Computer Sciences Corporation. He was lucky enough to meet his wife Kathy and convince her to marry him while he was employed there.  They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was employed by Sperry/Univac and L3 Communications for 32 years as a Computer Systems Analyst.  Upon retiring, he moved to Tucson, Arizona and finally Albertville, AL.

He was a wonderful husband and loving father.  His hobbies included boating and woodworking, but his passion was golf.  He could often be found on local courses—doing what he loved most, golfing.  He loved Alabama football and was an avid fan.  He was known best by his friends for his willingness to help with a project or pitch in to help where needed.

The family wished to thank “Heartlite Hospice” care, especially nurses Amy and John, for the excellent care and services provided by them.

A memorial service will be held later this year.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations, in celebration of Al’s life, be made to The Church of the Epiphany Choir.
