Aaron Leon Masters

Aaron Leon (Lee) Masters, 87, of Moss Point, MS passed away peacefully in his sleep in Memphis, TN on September 5, 2021.  Lee was born in Boaz, AL on April 30, 1934.

A Veteran of a Foreign War having served 3 years in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, he worked 6 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, NH after leaving the Marine Corps.  He then transferred to Guam where he worked 13 years for the Department of Defense as a shipfitter during the Vietnam War and later as an Activity Civil Engineer. At the conclusion of his time in Guam, he transferred to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where he worked another 5 years for the Department of the Navy.  He then moved to Moss Point, MS and finished out his last 5 years with the Federal Government at the Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS.  He retired in 1989 having worked 32 years for the Federal Government and was fortunate enough to enjoy another 32 years in retirement.

Lee had homes in both Hardy, AR and in Moss Point, MS and in his final years, he moved between his home in Hardy AR and Moss Point, MS with the change of the seasons.

In his younger years, he loved to golf, fish, and play racquetball.  In his later years he enjoyed traveling, dancing and fixing things.  There was seldom anything he could not fix or build.  He could be generous to a fault and often helped strangers.  He was fond of saying, “Life should be fun!”  He loved the song El Paso by Marty Robbins, which he sang very well. He was married to Audrey Ann Moody for 54 years

He was preceded in death by both parents, (Ruby) Doris Pankey and Aaron Benjamin Masters; one sister, Linda Fay Duran; and two brothers, Billy Clay Masters and Bobby Delano Masters.  He is survived by his sisters Julia Ann Slaton, (Ruby) Paulette Harvey (husband Tom), (Mary) Martha Tidwell (husband Ricky), Rebecca Chapman (husband David), and his brothers (Henry) (De)Wayne Pankey (wife Linda), Benjamin Douglas Masters (wife Ann), and Aaron Benjamin Masters (wife Angie).

He is also survived by his three sons, John Benjamin Flores Masters (wife Helen), Kerry Lee Masters (wife Yelena), and Steven Alan Masters (wife Nida) and his two daughters, Sandra Jean Schmidt (husband Jerry) and Elisa Jayne Kiernan (husband Mark) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home and Memory Gardens in Albertville, AL starting at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
